Ubuntu, Debian and other GNU/Linux based systems
GNU/Linux has a high level of support for Sinhala Unicode. Most systems simply require a Sinhala Unicode font.

Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5 - RHEL 5
RHEL 5 comes with full sinhala unicode support.
The RedHat installer also comes with full Sinhala support
The interfaces (menus etc) have also been partly translated to sinhala and is work in progress.

The simplified installer for Sinhala/Tamil Unicde can be downloaded from here. (15Mb)

The interfacecs (menus etc) of windows XP have not been translated.
Sinhala kit for Windows XP with Service Pack 2 and 3 (beta version)
Internet Explorer 6
IE6 Sinhala support can be installed by downloading a small kit that is only 1.5MB .
This gives read only Sinhala support.

Microsoft Windows Vista
The quick fix installs the keyboard driver and changes system settings to enable sinhala language support.
This fix provided by Microsoft is under testing.
The interfaces in Vista have not yet been translated.
